Lawn Care During a Drought: Quick Tips!

Maintaining a beautiful lawn during a drought isn’t easy, especially in the summer when water restrictions often come into play. However, there are some steps you can take to minimize the impact of the drought and maximize the beauty of your outdoor spaces.

  • If you are allowed to water, do it during the early mornings.
  • Keep your lawn at a higher length, helping the grass provide more shade to the ground and a deeper root system.
  • Aerate or de-thatch grass for optimum water penetration.
  • Mulch clippings back into the law to provide more nutrients and ground cover.
  • Plant drought-tolerant grass.
  • Cut back on fertilization. With less nitrogen, the grass will grow less and require less water.
  • Consider installing a sprinkler system with a pre-set timer.
  • Let your lawn brown and go dormant until the wet weather returns and revives it.
  • Use this time to to reseed or resod.
