Stepping StonesExterior Makeovers: Now’s the TimeDuring the winter, there’s plenty to be done in your landscape. Now is the perfect time to think about an “extreme” exterior makeover, transplanting and replacing plants and shrubs to change the look of your property, creating new flower beds and pockets of greenery that will flourish in the spring and summer. Perhaps you have oversized plants and shrubs that obstruct windows and walkways. January through March are perfect times to replace plants and do rehabilitative pruning as we move into spring. Call Beth at 678-450-6599. Turf CareIf you have a cool-season fescue lawn, you’re probably the envy of the neighborhood this winter. Fescue flourishes in the fall, winter and into the early spring and with proper care will also provide a fairly lush lawn – if properly irrigated – into the summer months. However, don’t be dismayed if you have warm-season turf, such as Bermuda or Zoysia. Although it’s brown in the cold months, it requires maintenance in the winter to prevent spring and summer broad-leaf weeds. As part of our turf maintenance, we provide pre-emergents and fertilizer at the optimal times for the type of grass you have. Call our offices and ask for David or Frank if you have turf questions. Hardscapes and Outdoor RenovationsYou might consider adding a patio, a serpentine wall or outdoor kitchen to create additional outdoor living space. Our staff can help you work within your budget to enhance your landscape and provide an appealing location for entertaining and relaxing outside. One of the most popular additions is a fire pit, particularly those that are built of stacked stone and surrounded by seating areas. If you start now, you can still enjoy the warmth through the remainder of the winter months. Beth can help you with all your design needs. |
